ISB Programmes
A complete pathway that grows with the student: Early Years, Elementary, and Secondary.
Clear standards, instruction in English, multicultural classes.
A tailored international curriculum
Our pathway combines recognized academic standards (AERO/Common Core) with a student-centered, inquiry-based approach. In multi-age classes, skills and objectives are explicit: each student progresses with clear benchmarks, continuous feedback, and strong educational continuity.
Academic programmes
Three stages, one continuous pathway: learn with structure, grow with confidence.
From Early Years (learning through play, exploration, and relationships) to Elementary (academic foundations and social-emotional development) and then to Secondary (independence, interdisciplinary inquiry, and future readiness), each transition is designed to guide students with coherence and care.
Our goal is to help students develop voice and potential: strong skills, active curiosity, increasing study independence, and the ability to collaborate in an international context. In the upper grades, the pathway progressively aligns toward university preparation and international academic opportunities.
Curriculum
A vertically aligned academic framework designed for long-term readiness.
From foundational literacy to advanced analytical thinking, ISB structures progression intentionally and coherently across all divisions.
In Pre-Kindergarten, the International School of Brindisi provides a warm and nurturing environment where young learners begin their educational journey through exploration, creativity, and play. At this early stage, children develop the social, emotional, and cognitive foundations that support lifelong learning.
Learning experiences are designed to encourage curiosity and active discovery. Through guided play, storytelling, hands-on activities, and collaborative experiences, students begin to develop early literacy and numeracy skills while building confidence and independence.
Language development plays a central role in the program. Students are encouraged to communicate through conversation, songs, stories, and early writing activities that strengthen vocabulary and expression.
Creative exploration is also an important part of the curriculum. Art, music, movement, and imaginative play allow children to express themselves while developing coordination and creativity.
Equally important is the development of social-emotional skills. Through daily interactions and structured classroom routines, students learn cooperation, empathy, and respect for others. These early experiences help children feel secure, valued, and excited to begin their academic journey.
In Lower Primary, students build upon the foundations established in the early years while developing greater confidence as learners. The curriculum focuses on strengthening literacy, numeracy, and communication skills while encouraging curiosity and a positive attitude toward learning.
Teachers create engaging learning environments where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and participate actively in classroom activities. Lessons combine structured instruction with interactive learning experiences that support different learning styles.
Core subjects such as English language and mathematics provide the academic foundation of the program, while science and social studies introduce students to the world around them through observation, experimentation, and discussion.
Creative and physical development remain essential components of the curriculum. Students participate in art, music, and physical education activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and healthy habits. Through guided support and engaging learning experiences, Lower Primary students develop the confidence and fundamental skills necessary to continue their academic growth in the following years.
The Upper Primary program marks an important stage in students’ academic development, as they begin to take greater responsibility for their learning while strengthening their analytical and organizational skills.
At this stage, students deepen their understanding of core subjects including English language and literature, mathematics, science, and social studies. Teachers encourage students to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and connect their learning to real-world contexts.
Inquiry-based activities and collaborative projects help students develop problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills. These experiences encourage curiosity while preparing students for more advanced academic challenges.
Technology is integrated into the learning process as a tool for research, creativity, and digital literacy. Students learn how to use digital resources responsibly while developing skills that support modern learning environments.
Creative subjects and physical education continue to play an important role in student development. These areas support self-expression, collaboration, and personal wellbeing. By the end of Upper Primary, students are increasingly independent learners who are prepared for the academic expectations and structured study approaches of Middle School.
In Middle School, students experience a transition toward greater academic independence and intellectual challenge. The curriculum is designed to strengthen critical thinking, organization, and analytical skills while encouraging students to explore their interests and develop personal responsibility.
Students engage in a balanced program of core academic subjects including English language and literature, mathematics, science, and social studies. Coursework encourages deeper inquiry, structured research, and thoughtful discussion.
Teachers guide students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and collaborative learning strategies. Projects and presentations allow students to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways while strengthening communication and problem-solving abilities.
Technology continues to support learning through research, digital collaboration, and creative projects that enhance understanding across subjects.
Equally important during these years is the development of social awareness and personal identity. Through mentorship and structured classroom activities, students develop resilience, confidence, and respect for diverse perspectives. Middle School prepares students for the increased academic rigor and independence expected in High School.
The High School program at the International School of Brindisi provides students with a rigorous academic experience designed to prepare them for university studies and future professional opportunities.
Students engage in advanced coursework across core academic areas including English language and literature, mathematics, science, and social studies. These subjects encourage analytical thinking, research skills, and the ability to evaluate complex ideas.
Learning experiences emphasize independent thinking and intellectual curiosity. Students participate in projects, presentations, and written assignments that require them to analyze information, develop arguments, and communicate their ideas clearly.
Teachers support students in developing strong study habits, academic discipline, and a sense of personal responsibility for their learning. Guidance and mentorship help students identify their interests and prepare for the transition to higher education.
Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum to support research, collaboration, and responsible digital citizenship. By the end of High School, students leave the International School of Brindisi as confident, capable learners prepared to succeed in university environments and to contribute thoughtfully to a global society.
Teaching approach
Active, personalized, and inclusive learning: the student is the protagonist.
Teaching values active learning, critical thinking, and a balance between teacher guidance and student autonomy. Activities are designed to engage learners, give meaning to content, and support different learning styles.
In a multicultural environment, our approach promotes collaboration, communication, and global awareness. Technology is integrated as a tool for creation and problem solving (coding, robotics, creative media), not as passive consumption.
Assessment
Assessment for growth: clear criteria, ongoing feedback, shared goals.
Assessment at ISB is continuous and transparent, aligned with international academic standards. It integrates observation, structured tasks, and reflection to monitor progress and learning needs.
Feedback helps students improve and supports families in following development clearly: results, strengths, and priority areas to work on.
Certifications & recognition
A pathway built on recognized standards, oriented toward future opportunities.
Our academic pathway is built on recognized standards (AERO/Common Core) and on an internationally accredited school system: this ensures solidity, verifiable quality, and transferability in the case of mobility.
For older students, the school can integrate opportunities such as VHS Learning to broaden the offer and support informed next steps in Italy and abroad.
